Houston

2024-02-26 15:37 PST

File # 2024-302

On February 25, 2024, while on scene of a suspicious fire in Granisle BC, Houston RCMP heard a gunshot echoing throughout the community. While police immediately attempted to determine where the shot came from, they were advised of the calls made to 9-1-1.

Police learned that a suspect had fired a rifle in the direction of another person who fortunately was unharmed.

The suspect was seen going into his residence on Hagan Street. The RCMP established containment in the immediate area blocking public access as the suspect was now armed and barricaded inside his residence. It was determined that the suspect was the only person inside the residence.

At 3:25 pm the suspect exited his residence and was taken into custody without further incident. Police located several firearms in the home including the one believed to have been recently fired.

The investigation is active and while charges have not yet been laid, it is anticipated that the suspect could face multiple weapons offences.
