Richmond RCMP has once again partnered with loss prevention officers, Metro Vancouver Transit Police, and a number of retailers from the downtown core of Richmond. This latest Boost ‘n Bust project from September 14, 2023 was extremely successful by the participants.
With each year, these collaborative retail theft operations, have proven increasingly successful andvery insightful. This year, 18 arrests were made in Richmond with the most commonly recovereditems being clothing, footwear, cosmetics, electronics, and personal hygiene products. Retail theft isnot a victimless crime and costs businesses across Canada, millions of dollars in property losses andrevenue.We continue to see the Skytrain as a conduit for the movement of suspects and goods betweenmunicipalities. We are pleased that Metro Vancouver Transit Police has been an excellent partneragency not only for our Detachment, but for other law enforcement partner agencies as well.
