On July 16th, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., Revelstoke RCMP responded to a report of a 15-year-old female from Kamloops, BC, who had lost her footing on slippery rocks and fallen into the Akolkolex Falls. Her step-father, in an attempt to rescue her, dove into the falls.
Those who witnessed the incident reported not seeing either party resurface.
Emergency crews, including Search and Rescue, BC Ambulance and the Fire Department responded.
With the help of a Search and Rescue helicopter, the step-father was located and transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Tragically, on July 17th, the female was located deceased by RCMP and Search and Rescue personnel, says Cpl. James Grandy.

The BC Coroners Service has conduct of the investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
