File # 2024-10230
On May 31 2024, at approximately 6:35 p.m. the West Shore RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance taking place near the intersection of Kelly Rd and Veterans Memorial Parkway.
Officers attended the scene and determined that a 1990 Suzuki Carr Pickup truck had side swiped a 2010 Toyota Yaris. While the two vehicles were stopped at the intersection, the driver of the Suzuki approached the driver of the Yaris and tried to physically pull them out of the vehicle.
Police observed the driver of the Suzuki, identified as a 31-year-old Metchosin man, was exhibiting symptoms of alcohol impairment and pursued an impaired driving investigation where the suspect provided samples of his breath into an approved roadside screening device resulting in a Fail reading. The driver was determined to be over the legal limit of alcohol allowed in the body and was issued a 90-day roadside prohibition and their vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Fail
The victim was unharmed and informed police they did not wish to pursue assault charges in addition to the impaired driving charges the suspect was already facing.
