Burnaby RCMP’s Bike Unit arrests two individuals with outstanding warrants

Burnaby RCMP’s Bike Unit arrested two men with outstanding warrants in two separate incidents in just over an hour.

On March 4, 2025, just before 10:00 a.m., Burnaby RCMP’s Bike Unit was proactively patrolling the Metrotown area when they observed a woman yelling at an unknown man who was rummaging through her groceries that were still in her shopping cart beside her vehicle. Officers learned that the woman had stepped away from the cart to place her child in her vehicle when the man began digging through her items.

Police detained the man and quickly discovered that he had an outstanding warrant for breaching his probation, which stemmed from an assault charge in Burnaby. The man was arrested and transported to Burnaby RCMP cells to deal with the warrant.

Just over an hour later, at 11:00 a.m., the same two officers were conducting patrols when they located two men in an alley near Royal Oak Avenue and Kingsway. One of the men was known to these officers, who confirmed that this individual had an outstanding arrest warrant for theft under $5,000 and assault with a weapon. The man was arrested and transported to Burnaby RCMP cells to deal with the warrant.

Our Bike Unit, along with numerous other units in the detachment, are out proactively looking for criminals, said Cpl Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP. If you see something that looks out of place, please report it.
