2024-01-25 14:48 PST

File # 2023-41783

At approximately 10 AM on Wednesday January 24, 2024 police attended to Neck Point beach, located off Hammond Bay Road, for a report of found human remains. At the time of the discovery officers were unable to make a positive identification. However, several tattoos were located on the remains and photographed.

These photographs along with other identifying marks allowed investigators to confirm the remains were that of a 35-year old man reported missing on December 2, 2023.

At the time he was reported missing, the deceased had been living on a sailboat moored in nearby waters off Hammond Bay Road. An exhaustive search was undertaken by a number of agencies. Searchers were unable to locate him.

The family of the deceased has been advised, RCMP Victim Services is engaged and the BC Coroners Service is continuing with their investigation.
